Cast Iron Handle Operated Lug Butterfly Valve Description
Cast iron lug butterfly valves with handle operation provide rugged, reliable manual flow control. The valves have a cast iron body and lug ends with ANSI standard bolt patterns for easy installation between pipe flanges. A ductile iron disc rotates inside the body to regulate flow, sealing against a molded seat when closed.
A stainless steel shaft connects the disc to an external lever or gear operator handle for manual modulation. Handle mechanisms provide the torque needed to open and close the valve against line pressure. Valve sizes range from 3" to 24" diameters to handle substantial flow rates.
The cast iron body and disc offer excellent corrosion resistance. The molded seat provides shutoff while allowing some flexibility and compliance. Together, the components create a tight seal when closed and prevent leakage. Cast iron lug butterfly valves are an economical solution for manual flow control across a variety of applications.
